Design & Technology
Our vision
At Bowling Park Primary School, we are proud to:
- Celebrate a broad and diverse range of designers and engineers through our DT curriculum.
- Encourage children to explore, be innovative and creative thinkers and see the enjoyment and challenge that DT can bring.
- Enable our teachers to develop and deepen children’s use of terminology and understanding of the different elements of DT.
During every child’s learning journey at Bowling Park Primary School, they will experience and develop their design technology (DT) skills in every year group, starting in nursery. Through DT lessons, children will develop a sense of pride, confidence, autonomy, and resilience. Our curriculum is designed to be inclusive, giving all pupils opportunities to develop their ability and nurture their talent. They will be inspired to experiment and produce DT projects (both independently and in a group) where imagination and a ‘can do’ attitude are encouraged. We believe that DT can support children to find their place in the world by reflecting on famous designers and engineers from Yorkshire, UK and beyond. Our DT curriculum has been designed to ensure that children can practise previously taught skills, persevere with difficult concepts, and develop resilience. DT will support children to develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently. DT allows pupils to participate and belong successfully in an increasingly technological community.
